Llandudno, North Wales, 10th November 2010 Attix5 has provided a cloud-based storage platform which underpins its automated backup and restore solution, Backup Professional since 1999. As a member of VMware’s SELECT Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) programme, the company anticipates improving internal efficiency and performance, from which clients will benefit. Attix5 has worked with closely with VMware to pass rigorous testing and achieve TAP status. The latest version of Attix5’s software, Attix5 Backup Pro Version 6, includes features and enhancements such as de-duplication which amplify the benefits of virtualisation. According to Michael Law, MD of Attix5, the company was providing cloud services long before the term came into vogue - “The Attix5 model, based on remote data centre capacity accessed via the Internet, is a cloud service: simply put, our customers can download a client to their machine, and backup their data to a remote site. If that machine is lost, they can access their data from anywhere in the world and load it onto any other machine as necessary.” Chris Norton, VMware regional director for southern Africa, says the TAP programme provides access to VMware expertise to support the development and deliver joint solutions to shared customers. He stresses that partnerships are not entered into lightly - “All partnerships that VMware has are meaningful and relevant; however more frequently, we are seeing the role of the ‘Service Provider’ elevated to one of significance as organisations look to the cloud and explore how they can leverage the resultant services.” While it has used virtualisation extensively in its data centres located around the world, Law says the partnership will result in deeper technology integration between the two vendors - “Access to resources and expertise within VMware underpins our ability to deliver more effective cloud services to worldwide markets. That’s of particular value given the growth trajectory which Attix5 is enjoying. As we take on more clients, efficient use of available resources becomes more pressing.” Noting that VMware is committed to ensuring the extensibility of the cloud fabric at all levels, Norton says its technology vision is complemented by strategic partnerships which result in the creation of consumable cloud services. “Attix5 adds to this in a meaningful way; the type and extent of service offerings from such providers depends on the technology partnerships that underpin those services. And as virtualisation in its most basic form becomes commoditised, it is through the efforts of technology companies like Attix5 that scalable, secure, agile and very relevant resource pools are made available commercially.” Reiterating the relevance of its TAP partners, Norton says VMware is committed to providing the support and access to intellectual property which ensures delivery of the most relevant technology for end-users.For more information please contact Felicity Burton |
