RISC Group IT Solutions records rise in enquiries
for managed services from SME’s due to recent cold weather

Britain has suffered the coldest winter in three decades with temperatures last week reported to be akin to the South Pole. With more snow forecast for this week, RISC Group IT Solutions have seen a substantial increase in the number of people enquiring about managed services in an effort to keep their businesses running during the cold weather.

The Federation of Small Businesses estimated that one in ten employees did not make it into work last week and insurers, RSA, predict that the “Big Freeze” could have cost UK businesses up to £690 million per day in lost revenue.

Felicity Burton Marketing Manager for RISC Group IT Solutions said, “Following the recent heavy snowfall across the UK, there has been a serious impact on businesses with employees being unable to commute to the office or attend scheduled meetings.

However, the impact of this has been lessened with the facilities available for employees to, utilising innovative technology, continue working remotely from home. Managed services in particular have enabled businesses to continue communicating with their customers and securing their data, ensuring that all business critical information remains secure and available.

RISC Group’s managed services allow their customers to continue working remotely, dramatically reducing the detrimental impact of the weather. By using RISC services such as Hosted Exchange, Online Data Backup and online conferencing tool – RISC Meet and Support, customers have been able to conduct online meetings, use their email accounts as normal and backup their data.

All of this is remotely monitored by a highly skilled UK support team, ensuring full business continuity.

With more snow forecast this week, companies will want to look at their existing disaster recovery plans to ensure that they have adequate solutions in place for any similar situations where staff are unable to get to the office, not just the weather but in the event of a fire, flood etc.

RISC Group IT Solutions is committed to helping companies improve continuity and productivity and welcome enquiries from those who wish to update their existing business continuity arrangements.
